I am happy to present the current issue of Mudra: Journal of Finance and Accounting. The issue considers ten articles covering different aspects of accounting, finance, capital markets, financial development, and related areas. The studies are not limited to the Indian context and provide empirical evidence from other economies, including the USA, UK, France, Bhutan, and Ghana. The first article in the current issue, “Determinants of Call Money Rate Spread in India: Role of Durable and Transitory Liquidity Shocks,” by Suvojit Lahiri Chakravarty and Sonia Goel, aims to assess the role of the various durable and transitory liquidity shocks on the Indian call money spread. The second article, “Stock Price Prediction using RNN Architecture: LSTM and GRU Model of Neural Network,” by Kajol Verma tries to compare the performance of two deep learning models such as Long Short-Term Memory and Gated Recurrent Unit in predicting stock prices of three IT sector companies listed on the National Stock Exchange and reported that Gated Recurrent Unit is the successful model for stock price prediction as compared to Long Short-Term Memory, and the research suggests suitable values of the epoch for better performance.

Another article of the issue “The Role of AI: Transforming the Landscape of Indian Financial Services” by Anuradha Patil, Abhishek Raidas, and Priyanka Dhoot tries to assess the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) adoption within the Indian financial services (FS) industry, while a study titled “Financial Development and Economic Growth in Bhutan: An ARDL Approach” by Arunava Kumar Choudhury and Subrata Saha investigates the relationship between financial development and economic growth in Bhutan and found that financial sector development has a positive role in economic growth. The study “The Psychology of Risk Tolerance: Analyzing the Impact of Psychological Factors on Financial Risk Tolerance” by Vyshak P. K. and Jayarajan T. K. explores the relationship between the financial risk tolerance of individual equity investors and psychological factors, while the other study, “The Impact of Internal Control Systems on Financial Performance in the Ghanaian Community-based Credit Union Sector, by Suleman Yussif and Tripti Gujral, sought to evaluate the impact of the internal control system on the financial performance of community-based credit unions in Ghana.

Sonal Sharma, in the study “Combination Models: An International Comparison,” tries to test various volatility prediction models, especially the combination models, by comparing data on Nifty and Sensex with four other market indices from the USA, UK, Hong Kong, and France. Another study, “Empowering Women Entrepreneurs: Analyzing the Influence of Government Support Programs and Their Socioeconomic Impact,” by Preetika Saini, Sunita Malhotra, and Sanjay Bhushan, tries to evaluate the impact of Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) on economic empowerment, the rectification of gender disparities, the promotion of financial inclusion, and the resolution of societal challenges. PMMY, by providing collateral-free loans with reduced interest rates, serves as an instrumental instrument in empowering women to embark on entrepreneurial journeys.

The different drivers of green banking adoption were assessed by Rashi Malik and Seenu Garg in their study “Drivers for Green Banking Adoption: Diffusion of Innovation Theory and TAM Perspective” and found that adoption of green banking practices is positively affected by perceived usefulness, relative advantage, and compatibility. Contrary to that, green banking is negatively impacted by perceived risk and complexity. The literature-based study Mapping Supply Chain Linkages and Farmers’ Income: A Bibliometric Review” by Dinesh Kumar Sharma and Prashant Gupta assessed the existing trends in the field of supply chain linkages and farmers income through a thorough analysis of academic literature published during 1997 to 2024 and reported important contributors, trends, and patterns in this field of study.
